Hacked Gadgets Halloween Pumpkin Experiment

at 3:50 am. Filed under Crazy Hacks

We crank up the juice on a 5mm LED to light up the Hacked Gadgets Halloween Pumpkin. LEDs have some incredible run time, quite often we don’t need them to run for thousands of hours. If you just need a fraction of the run time just crank up the power and get increased intensity. Watch the long version of the video below to see the math behind the hack. If you just want to see the cray results jump down to the short version. Don’t try to imitate the results since there is an electrocution and burn hazard with this hack. 🙂

Thanks to my daughter Alexis for carving the Halloween Pumpkin!

I have a feeling there’s a trick there. At some point the video is switched and the sound of something like a gas burning is obvious even before turning up the variac.
imho, a 5mm LED just can’t produce that much flame.
