Watch the videos below to be amazed at what goes into making the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 Jet Engine which is used in the Boeing 787. I can’t imagine all of the organization that is needed to get these machines off the assembly line. When you see the precision and attention to detail that is used to make every tiny part it is surprising that an engine can every be completed. “At entry into service (EIS) of the Boeing 787, the Trent 1000 will be the most efficient engine for the aircraft, delivering the lowest fuel consumption. Engine testing has already demonstrated this level of performance. Our development programme has run an engine over 15% better than the performance of our first Trent, Trent 700 when it first entered service. This is equivalent to a fuel saving of $2.3m per aircraft per year.”

Check out this LEGO CNC Machine which is built around a LEGO Mindstorms NXT system. The creator is 16 year old Youtube user Kabeltomten, all I can say is way to go and I can’t wait to see what this guy is building 10 years from now. The Z axis has some great height, looks to be something like 10 inches, the X, Y table can move around with some great speed also. Now since it is built using LEGO pieces don’t expect the thing to be the most stable thing around but I can see this thing cutting some cardboard, drawing some homework with a marker or frosting a cool cupcake! Be sure to watch the video after the jump. There are quite a few LEGO CNC machines out there and I don’t think this will be the last! If you have some interesting LEGO creations be sure to let us know. |
