    Another easy one …

  6. Kozz Says:

Hey, I recognize that! See the tall cylindrical thing? It’s a capacitor. Okay, okay. That’s honestly all I know about this one.

  7. SH Says:

I’d take the Thing rather than the prize. I already ordered 2 of them 😛

  8. David Says:

Sadly, we haven’t gotten to applications in circuits yet, but I do like the “clasp”! What brand is it? It’d make a handy addition to my gear.

  9. Alan Parekh Says:

    Hi David,

Glad to hear you are taking electronics, too bad you haven’t taken the classes that would help you out. 🙂

It’s a normal generic clasp, it isn’t for actual mountaineering but rather for clipping to your keys or hanging something like a bag on a hook.

  10. Almost_There Says:

This is a good one; if you didn’t know what it was, you’d probably have a hard time guessing it.

  11. Shadyman Says:

Exactly.. Luckily enough, I’d seen one featured on MAKE, HackedGadgets, Hack-a-day, EMSL, or something similar. I forget exactly where.

  12. Ken Says:

If it’s what I think it is, I only recognize it, because out of curiosity I’ve hacked several of these up to see what makes them tick.

  13. Alan Parekh Says:

    Winner announced.

  14. Rob Allen Says:

Ok, the capacitor is what I recognize, too, but about the rest…no idea. Probably something well know, but I don’t get it.

  15. Alan Parekh Says:

    Hi Rob,

This contest is an old one. The answer has been added to the contest body in italic. Go here to see the latest one (there is a new one every week).
