Fastest Bicycle in the World

at 1:26 pm. Filed under Insane Equipment

Hacked Gadgets went to Island Tech 2009 which was on Vancouver Island British Columbia Canada to check on the technology that was being demonstrated. It was an interesting feeling to be able to touch the fastest bicycle in the world! Designed by VARNA of British Columbia, it looks like this bike can’t be beat. Thumbing through the binder of newspaper clippings and event pictures shows that this technology is no over night success but rather the result of years of dedicated work towards excellence.

Interesting design. Recumbent cycles are nothing new, I raced them for 6 years (during high school and 1 year as an old scholar).

This one uses a different drive system, the ones I have raced have rear wheel drive and consist of 2.5 standard bicycle chains to go from the crank to the rear wheel. This one also only has 2 wheels, the ones I have raced have 3 wheels (2 at the front for steering and 1 at the back).
