It is so interesting to see how simple the pressed record technology actual is. Holy christ, that first video made me cringe.
I did this when I was a kid, and it’ll work great, but for the love of your vinyl collection, if you are going to experiment on your records, do it on one you don’t care about. A steel needle damages the vinyl grooves far more than the standard diamond-tipped record player head (which also has shock and pressure absorbing features, and the arm is designed to rest lightly on the record).
