at 2:56 am. Filed under Contests

Thanks to Protostack. for sponsoring the contest this week. They will be providing a $30 gift certificate to the winner. They have lots of cool products, $30 would go a long way with their prices. Have a look at this ATMEGA8 Development Kit that they have recently created, if you are into AVR development this may be the ticket for you. This contest will run for one week (June 6 - 11, 2009) . Ending time is based on central standard time. To enter, identify the item pictured above and give an example of what can be done with it, please note that you don’t need to provide the actual make or mode..

Please do not give the answer in the comments.

Send an email to contest @ hackedgadgets.com with "Name the Thing Contest" as the subject, and the message body consisting of:

  • The name of the item in the above picture
  • An example of what the item pictured above can be used for

do you need the model or what

  2. Zake Says:

Atleast I personally think “please note that you don’t need to provide the actual make or mode..” means that it’s enough to know what that thing is generally, not the exact model.

  3. Samuel Says:

Hm… there’s no fun in this when you don’t have to guess what the thing is.
    =)

  4. Alan Parekh Says:

Hi Kelly as Zake mentioned you don’t need a model just what the board is used for.

  5. Alan Parekh Says:

    Hi Samuel,

You still have to guess what it is at a high level. For example if you said it is a circuit board or a gaming system that answer would be wrong.

  6. Mike Says:

It’s easy to guess the general type of item. The manufacturer and model (yes, I know it’s not needed) takes a bit more hunting to get. I haven’t found this actual shot yet.

  7. Samuel Says:

I found the exact model. Clue: He left something on the picture he shouldn’t have.

BTW: I am not the same Samuel as earlier

  8. ice Says:

    Hard one !

  9. Simon Says:

    Just curious: what is it?

  10. Alan Parekh Says:

    Winner announced.

  11. Steve Prior Says:

What was the thing he left in the photo he shouldn’t have? I’m still missing what that could possibly be. Any word on what model camera this is from?

  12. Mike Says:

I’m guessing that referred to either the Fuji logo on the big chip or the XD logo on the battery door… It’s a Fuji Finepix f20. I couldn’t find the exact picture, but did find this one with the lens installed.
