DIY Forge Construction

at 5:28 am. Filed under DIY Hacks

You probably remember the knife making article that we featured a few weeks ago, one of the main tools that was used to construct the knife was a forge. Not very many people have a forge in their back yard but as Frank from The Workshop shows us, you could make your own DIY Forge from recycled parts if you put a bit of effort into it.

Control your Gadgets by Sensing Electrical Signals from Eye Movements

at 9:43 pm. Filed under Complex Hacks, Computer Hacks, Cool Gadgets, Electronic Hacks, Insane Equipment, What Were They Thinking

Controlling your Gadgets by Sensing Electrical Signals from Eye Movements may seem like a concept that is only possible in your dreams but some researchers have made it a reality.

Via: Inventor Spot

"The researcher, staring at a large screen, rolls his eyes clockwise and a digital music player on the screen responds by increasing the volume of the music track being played. Then a kind of visual ping pong begins as the scientist’s eyes dart one way and the player fast forwards to the next song, then they dart in another direction and the music skips back to the previous track. Controlling the operation of remote devices with the flick of an eye may sound like science fiction, but it’s all in a day’s work for Dr. Masaaki Fukumoto, Executive Research Engineer at NTT DOCOMO’s Frontier Technology Research Group, where ongoing research promises to revolutionize the way we interact with technologies to make our daily lives more convenient and enjoyable."

at 10:15 am. Filed under DIY Hacks, Electronic Hacks

The fuel and temperature gauges were not working properly in the Merkur XR4Ti that DJ Sures owned. These specialty components usually cost hundreds of dollars to replace. Instead of forking over tons of cash he decided to replace the old analog system with a DIY Digital Conversion of the Fuel and Temp Gauge.

High Voltage Experiments

at 3:09 am. Filed under Complex Hacks, Electronic Hacks, Insane Equipment, What Were They Thinking

We like high voltage experiments here at Hacked Gadgets. You may remember the cool Top 5 Old TV Hacks that we featured before. High Voltage Experiments are very dangerous but can be lots of fun if you are kept safe. Don’t attempt to simulate any of these experiments unless you know what you are doing! The first 4 videos are were done by XTrBass, the 4th one looks like a great way to get rid of confidential information that may be on a CD. Video 5 and 6 are by yoshieggz who got his hands on a pole transformer and is having fun with it! Finally the last 3 videos shows what happens when you allow many MegaVolts of electricity to discharge in a piece of Plexiglas, some details of this process can be seen here and also here.

Dog-O-Matic – Automatic Dog Washer

at 3:59 pm. Filed under Complex Hacks, Funny Hacks, What Were They Thinking

Today our lives are busier than ever, it seems that automatic pet washers are becoming more popular. I bet most of the pets would not be very cooperative going into the machine the second time! I am all about convenience but how long will it be before an animal has a heart attack in one of these things?
