Now that’s a classic, it’s a first run underwear cleaner/folder. It could only clean one pair at a time but it would remove any stains or smells, as well as fold the pair into a standard 3.5″ size. It works with boxers, briefs and ‘ladies’ and has settings for size, color and ‘grime’. It never caught on except in Japanese vending machines.

Hmm. It looks like an early prototype of some kind. “Computer: Earl Grey, hot!” The cup shall appear behind that little gray door, I’m sure of it.

So far I have been able to deduce that the picture was taken with an Eastman Kodak DX3600 Digital Camera at 15:04:45 on 2003/03/27 with a shutter speed of 1/45 second, lens aperture of F3.4, subject distance of 550mm (that’s questionable), using a flash, it was originally uploaded to a computer with Adobe Photoshop 3.0 in “.JFIF” format, but has since been modified with Photoshop 7.0 and saved in “.JPG” format; but I have absolutely no idea (yet) what the camera was pointed at when it took the picture.

I think I saw one of these a very long time ago at a museum. It’s been out for what? 80 years or so? Judging by the looks of it, it’s some kind of electrical device? Maybe?

I recognise the livery – it’s a DEC beer cooler c.1980
Only three were ever made – due to most faculties not having anything to accommodate the other end of the massive ribbon cable coming out of the rear (of the cbainet).
The remaining empty cabinets fromt he supplier were deployed liberally to hold down carpet tiles and computer flor tiles across the nation.
