  1. Mike Says:

That heatsink is not standard :-)

  2. Almost_There Says:

This is another one of those “either you know it, or you don’t” things; so I’m going to say…

    It’s not your father’s 6BE6.

    (or 12BH7A, 6K6GT, 12BA4…)

  3. Alan Parekh Says:

Good eye Mike, the chip heatsink may not be stock. Hopefully this doesn’t confuse anyone.

  4. Josh Says:

I know what this is. I even saw it in my junk pile the other day. Now, if only I could remember what I got it out of…

  5. Pinter75 Says:

The heatsink is stock :-) I have seen one before when I opened mine up to see what was inside.

  6. Mike Says:

To clarify, the heatsink on the lower left is stock. The one on the 40-pin DIP is an addon
(or maybe they started including them on later versions). It certainly isn’t on mine.

  7. troy Says:

Almost_There, I disagree. I found out what it is, but it took some lucky guess-and-check.

  8. troy Says:

The contest ended more than a week ago. Is there a result? I wouldn’t mind knowing if I was right or not. :)

  9. Mike Says:

OK, I guess it has been long enough… It’s the board from the Timex Sinclair ZX81 computer.

  10. Alan Parekh Says:

    Hi Troy,

The winner will be announced later today.

  11. Alan Parekh Says:

    Winner announced.

  12. Thijs K. Says:

Yihaa ! Thanks ! Just wondering, were there many correct answers ?

  13. Alan Parekh Says:

    About half were correct.
