Book automated systems have a similar look but this Automated Book Scanning Robot called ScanBot seems like the scanning system it uses may be one of the best. It appears to use a vacuum to hold the page firmly against the moving scanning head. I wonder if it ever flips two pages at once? "The book scanner ScanRobot® has been developed for the digitization of huge book inventories. The book scanner has the ability to turn the pages automatically and to to scan a whole book at once. The new and patented scanning technology of the ScanRobot® allows absolutely distortion free images and the gentle and cost effective digitization of books and other bound documents. The modular design of the book scanner allows easy adaptation to specific customer requirements. Due to the unique and simple concept this book scanner is specially suited for libraries and archives as well as for large digitization projects."

Thats so wierd I quasi-invented this while daydreaming yesterday. I was thinking about how to scan books automatically atleast, and was wondering how to turn the pages. I even thought about using a vacuum. Never got quite this far, needless to say. nice work
