PSP Phat and Slim Keyboard

Just because the Xbox360 Chatpad wasn’t designed to work with the PSP doesn’t mean that some creative and skilled people can’t make it happen! The PSP Phat and Slim Keyboard is proof of that.

"Hey all talk a look at my Microsoft Xbox360 Chatpad connected to my PSP Phat and Slim. Thanks to Jean over at ps2dev.org and this project that he developed we can all have nice keyboards connected to our PSP’s. My PSP’s are running CFW 4.01 M33-2, a special version of piKey and a custom flash on the Chatpad. Text input is a breeze and it works with the Sony OSK (on screen keyboard) and the Danzeff OSK under AFKIM. It does not work with PSPWrite and other ZX-81 applications because they are not compiled to do so but Jean is working on a compatible drive to make them work natively."

Pretty crappy mod if you ask me. If you change the software on the PSP, you can do almost anything. If this keyboard would work on the standard PSP OS, I’d give money for it.

  2. Alexander Says:

@Dave: Pretty crappy mod? Are you insane? My PSP does just about everything, and now with a keyboard I can make it into a real IM client with MSN and the like. Not to mention IRC and all the other applications. And the internet just got a whole lot better too.

  3. Dave Says:

@Alexander: Sure, that’s nice. But I’m not ready to change my OS just for that keyboard. To surf, chat with an IM or IRC, one can use a PDA or a small netbook (eg the EEE PC). Really don’t see what the fuss is about. I don’t really know what these keyboards cost, but count the cost with the cost of the PSP, add $50 and you might have an EEE PC.
