Seascout - Automatic Lifeguard Rescue Boat

at 11:23 am. Filed under Complex Hacks, Cool Gadgets, Insane Equipment

New Zealander based Andre Harley has come up with an interesting concept, an automated vehicle would be able to rescue you to when you get into trouble on the water. Having a bunch of these ready to spring into action could be better protection than a few lifeguards watching over a huge section of water.

"Each swimmer wears a GPS unit which can be activated should the swimmer become in distress. The rest if up to the Seascout, which will pick up the GPS beacon and make a beeline straight for the drowning victim and scoop them up to safety."

Swim away, dude. It’s coming right for you. Toss a scuba tank in and find your rifle, quick.

I can imagine some situations where a person is injured that this might not be able to help as much as a human would. Good to have around, but I’d want at least one actual person standing by.

  3. Ken Says:

Hmm… make sure that the GPS Devices must be the top notch quality one. Because that’s the key to find the target… I guess with this gadget, we can decrease unwanted accident at the big wide sea.

  4. Will Says:

Hopefully, during its “beeline”, it goes around the other swimmers in the area…

  5. BigD145 Says:

For anyone that has actually been involved in rescuing a drowning person, they aren’t always happy to see you. You’re just as likely to become a victim.
