Waalbot Wall Climbing Robot

at 8:06 am. Filed under Complex Hacks, Cool Gadgets, Electronic Hacks

I can see a robot like Waalbot climbing buildings washing outside walls and windows. The folks at iRobot may get inspired and augment the Roomba and Scooba with a Wallba. :)
Video after the jump.

"A PIC microcontroller is used to control the motion of the robot and onboard power makes the system fully tetherless and wireless RF or IR control allows for teleoperation. The Waalbot design, from Carnegie Mellon University, is simple, meaning it can be easily miniaturized and controlled. The legged motion allows the wall climbing robot to overcome small obstacles and low angle surface curvatures. Even with this low complexity structure, unlike most other climbing robots, the robot is agile and fast with a small turning radius and plane transitions."

    video auto plays

Thanks Mr. Maigo I didn’t realize that it auto played. I have put the video after the jump to prevent it auto playing every time the main page is loaded.

This guy is neat — but not so cute. How about teaming up with one of those knitting or craft girl pages to get him a plush suit — then he would be all set for a real life as a peeping tom and could blog about what he sees up all those walls on PlushWeb
