Automatic Closing Gates using a Picaxe Microcontroller

at 7:15 am. Filed under Complex Hacks, Electronic Hacks

Here is an interesting build of some Automatic Closing Gates that was made for this wooden gate. It was built out of necessity, the builder had a child that he did not want running onto the road. The motor and gearbox is controlled using a Picaxe Microcontroller. Activation of the gate is done remotely using a wireless keyfob.

Very nice. I am looking for some similar solution, but I dont have enough place for the gates to turn, probably I will make it sliding or something.
What is your motors power in wats, speed?
Have you tried it in heavy wind, can it open the gate and can it hold it at end position?
