Circuit Board Manufacturing Tour

at 5:09 am. Filed under Complex Hacks, Insane Equipment

Legit Reviews did a great job documenting a PCB Manufacturing Tour. It is interesting to see the scale of the operation, there is also some mention of the wages and working environment of the workers. The 4000 workers live on-site and work an average of 72 hours per week for about $0.60 per hour. The equipment and quality looks very good.

"ECS has the ability to put out two million motherboards a month at this single factory. The Hitachi PCB Drilling Machines that ECS was using are recent ND-Ne models that are equipped with full range spindles that can operate between 125,000 and 200,000 revolutions per minute."

WHY CAN’T SOMEONE MAKE SMALER VERSION OF THIS MACHINE
I LOVE TO HAVE SMALER VERSION OF THIS MACHINE

  2. Matchew Says:

Why can’t people pay a decent wage?!?

  3. Mr. Maigo Says:

Matchew: Because there will always be a people who work for less
Also explains why ECS is such cr*p

  4. Florin Says:

Wow, the facility is big and holds nice equipments, but i see too many people, it should work more with robots these days

  5. CBrown Says:

People aren’t paid decent wage because you wouldn’t buy the product if it cost you 500% more..

Thank goodness for cheap Chinese labor… I rather like my computers.

  6. Mr. Maigo Says:

Yeah, hey get comped cloths and food and housing, so that’s really not bad

    Still, ECS sucks

  7. PCBs Says:

    Nice pictures.

  8. Matchew Says:

$43.20 per week is pathetic, even if they receive free housing. The clothing and food are discounted, not free. Also, how difficult would it be to go shopping outside of the facility?
I for one am willing to pay more for a good product manufactured by employees receiving a decent wage. Not that I would before, but I will never buy a motherboard from ECS.

  9. Wigs Says:

Well if you don’t want them to make $43.20 per week, then don’t buy their product. That way, they’ll starve and won’t need to work there.

Also, there are things called exchange rates. Did you look up how much $43.20 in Chinese Yuan. Well I did, it’s 299.28 Yuan. At least they don’t have to worry about their house being foreclosed on.
