Gameboy running XP

at 12:12 pm. Filed under Complex Hacks, Computer Hacks, DIY Hacks, Electronic Hacks, Game Hacks

Looking for a tiny Windows XP computer? Is a Nintendo Gameboy small enough?

“The cool thing is that the little system will actually run Windows XP off of a Compact Flash card. I would assume Linux would work just fine as well. You’ll need to hook it up to a monitor to see what you’re doing though, it looks like they ran out of room to install one into the Gameboy. As cool as that might have been, it wouldn’t have exactly been practical anyway.”

I never have seen a motherboard so small!!! too bad there wasn’t enough room for a tiny graphic LCD like in a mobile phone…

That is the old old school game boy, from the like early 90s, if not late 80s. Bet the had the brick cell phones back then too lol.

I wonder if the Gameboy buttons are used for the keyboard?
If they were then it’s much more awesomer then i had originally thought, which, is pretty damn awesome.

I suppose the buttons are used only for power and reset, it will be difficult to enclose the PS/2 interface in there. Besides in the 4th photo you can see the internal cabling and there is only connection for the red and green button.

but seriously that pico-ITX is awesome, I’m sure it fits in the back of a keyboard (or in the TFT), then you will only need your keyboard and the monitor :)
