Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories have concocted a wild toast making machine. Well it doesn’t really make toast, it prints images on the toast using hot air. Soon we will have to jack our toasters into the net so that our toast will have ads that go with the ads on our eggs. Video after the jump. It turns out that you can actually do some interesting things with just the print head and the X-Y gantry. Especially since, as one of our astute readers noted in a comment, “(3D printer – Z axis) + hot air rework station=completely digital toast imaging technology.” Our thoughts exactly.”

Years ago, one of the military branches had a design for a battlefield printer that used
tiny jets of hot air to scorch dot-matrix characters onto paper. The output was fairly
permanent and the printer required no ink! I think I saw it in Popular Electronics magazine
back in the late ’60s or early ’70s.
