Hacked Gadgets April Comment Contest

at 1:02 am. Filed under Contests

This month Hacked Gadgets will be giving a lucky commenter a $50 gift certificate to ThinkGeek. If you haven’t checked out ThinkGeek before, do so only when you have a spare 1/2 hour of surfing time. It is an addictive site with lots of cool stuff.

To enter all you need to do is comment on an article between now and April 30, 2007. The more comments you leave the better your odds of winning! For full contest details click here.

“ThinkGeek started as an idea. A simple idea to create and sell stuff that would appeal to the thousands of people out there who were on the front line and in the trenches as the Internet was forged. From programmers, engineers, students, lovers of open source, to the masses that helped create the behind-the-scenes Internet culture. ThinkGeek started as a way to serve a market that was passionate about technology.”

Below are a few examples of cool geek items that you could get with the gift certificate. What would you get with $50 to spend?

USB Rocket Launcher

The USB Rocket Launcher would be one of my picks if I had $50 to spend.

“This rocket launcher connects to your Windows 2000, XP or Vista machine via USB. Install the included software, plug in the Rocket Launcher, and with 360 degree horizontal rotation and 45 degree vertical rotation, the USB Rocket Launcher can fire over six meters, giving you coverage for over 113 square meters of your workspace.”

Wi Fi Signal Locator

The Wi Fi Signal Locator would be a great addition to a keychain or clipped to the laptop bag.

“The Mobile Edge WiFi Signal Locator is the smallest and most convenient way to check for hot spots without going through the tedious process of having to first boot-up your notebook and then search for a signal. By attaching the WiFi SL to your key chain or carrying case you will always be immediately aware of the presence of local hot spots!

The Wifi SL is half the size of the nearest competitive product and uses proprietary, patent-pending technology to eliminate false readings caused by such common objects as microwaves and portable phones. ”

Bluetooth Retro Handset

How funny would it be to use this Bluetooth Retro Handset instead if the tiny cell phones that are all too common…

“We have taken the ever-popular Retro Handset and updated it to connect to your cell phone using Bluetooth technology. That’s right! No more tangled up phone cord. Now people will think you’re really crazy talking into a old-time handset connected to… nothing. Oh, and speaking of nothing, there’s nothing out there quite like this handset because this product is a ThinkGeek original design, only available here. How ’bout them blueberries?”

If you are willing to pay $2 and shipping you could also buy the missle launch with it. Being that I need a new knife I would go with:

  4. Alan Parekh Says:

Ya, those wireless cables were funny. I love the Wiimote helmet they had this year too. :)

  5. Clark Hummell Says:

I want that headset. I made my own, the corded one, but my phone didn’t even have the right port.
So I gave it to a friend.

  6. Clark Hummell Says:

  7. LiesOfXIII Says:

You rock Alan. Plain and simple.

  8. Takato Says:

I’d either get the USB rocket launcher and hack it to be a cheep*** P&T camera, or I’d get retro headset just because it would be fun. As for the WiFi thing, I already have one. It’s called a PSP.

  9. Ptr Says:

ThinkGeek’s the best. Still saving up for the 4 in 1 tabletop lathe/mill/drill press.

  10. Kevin Says:

YEHA!!! Another COntest I will not win…

They really should sell the 8bit ties… There sweet.

  14. NGinuity Says:

Ptr: If it were me, I would not want to get the Unimat lathe from Thinkgeek. It just doesn’t look that sturdy. For the same price, you can get a decent milling machine from Harbor Freight.

  15. Henkie Says:

I’d really get the Polarity magnetic board game: http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/games/786f/
Those ‘floating’ pieces just look so cool

  16. Alan Parekh Says:

That board game does look sweet!

Hey Hexypoo, I heard today that the 8 bit tie will be produced. :)
