Hacking the Nintendo Wii Console

at 12:11 pm. Filed under Crazy Hacks, Funny Hacks, Game Hacks

It’s funny how these security experts can pick apart the Nintendo Game Cube and Wii security implementation. Have a close look at the connector in the picture, that’s right it says ‘insert modchip here’…

Video after the jump.

“Interesting if not long-winded explanation of DVD Security on Nintendo’s Wii

Cover’s everything from Nintendo’s original flaws in the Gamecubes copy protection and extensively covers the Wii’s security procedures, well worth a watch if console hacking is your thing…..”

Haha, someone needs to hack it and make the graphics look as good as the 360 or PS3.

  2. Impulse Says:

You are a moron. Hacks/chips don’t work like that, and last time I checked, people played Wii because it actually had good games on it. Maybe thats why there’s still so many stores sold out and with waitlists for the Wii and how they have already sold half the total amount of x360’s in 4 months.

I may sound like a fanboy, but I’m just stating simple fact.

    It’s a quote… :)

I don’t think that it says ‘insert modchip here’ on the Wii’s mainboard. I think that’s a joke that they put on the slide.

I woulden’t put it past Nintendo to do that, but SOMEONE would have found it before now.

  6. Pl0x Says:

I think So if U put a Modchip there The Wii dont work anymore.

  7. morch Says:

It’s not really on the board.. but I had to check :-)

  10. J Parker Says:

i put a mod in my wii and it works

  11. Clever Guy Says:

Is a nice step for homebrew, but the biggest step is when hackers are able to play burned wii games and make the Wii Region Free (everything without the need of a MODCHIP)….

If hackers makes that happens many people who likes to import japanese games will be greateful
