Injkjet Hacks

at 11:13 am. Filed under Complex Hacks, Crazy Hacks, Electronic Hacks

Some of the items that are thrown away every day make the most interesting hacks. Sprites mods has come up with a controller that will operate a inkjet cartridge, check out the picture of it printing on water! Parallax has also made a kit that lets people experiment with inkjets without reinventing the wheel…
Check out the Parallax videos after the jump.

“The characters are generated based on a small sentence in the flash ROM. These are then sent to the nozzles. The sectors are made active one by one and when a sector is active only one nozzle is activated. The reason that this is done for each individual nozzle is that the print head would otherwise create a local vacuum for itself. This would result in (temporarily) no ink from the print head. By changing the nozzles, the nozzles that are not driven are given time to fill with ink again.”

Man that is so cool, When I read the title I just expected it to shoot a blob of ink, but it does a whole string of text, that is cool. I also thought it was pretty interesting that the ink sprays that far too !
