Vertigo - Flueless Fire

at 5:47 am. Filed under Insane Equipment

I thought this was a plazma screen that was displaying an image of a fire. Wrong! The Vertigo - Flueless Fire is a real gas fireplace.

“When up and running, the Vertigo gas fire uses advanced technology to literally breathe life into your room. Utilizing a patented catalytic system, the fire has the ability to burn off the odorous and stale air in the room and efficiently return warm and neutral air back into your airspace. As a result, beyond the 100% efficient natural gas usage, 2.6kw of pure heat and simple manual operating system, the sleek gas fire fully enhances the atmosphere and ambiance of your environment.”

Unfortunately, flueless (or vent-free) gas fireplaces are illegal in Colorado. You can only have vented gas fireplaces installed - like mine, going in next week :D

Cool idea. But exactly what is it enhancing your atmosphere with, other than carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and water vapor?
