LEGO People LED Hack

at 5:39 am. Filed under DIY Hacks, Electronic Hacks, Funny Hacks

Here is a nice LEGO hack that will put a smile on anyone’s face! Seems that a standard 5mm LED fits quite well into the heads of LEGO people. :)

“It’s a good idea to carve your head before putting the LED in. (No, not your head, the head of your Lego minifigure.) This is particularly important if you’re starting with an older Lego head, since the suction can make it hard to remove the LED. (Newer Lego minifigure heads have a vent in the top.)

If necessary, wipe the smile (and eyes) off of its face with some rubbing alcohol. To carve the face, use a hobby knife with a sharp blade. You will be tempted to work with the knife very close to your face, so that you can see what you’re doing. That’s fine, but it’s a very good idea to wear some eye protection. Once you’re done carving, use the knife to remove any burrs or chips on the inside, which could make it difficult to insert the LED.”

This is a craft, not a hack. Come on hackedgadgets, I keep bumping you further and further to the right on my bookmark bar.. when you fall off the screen you get deleted. :(

  2. Loser Says:

We’re just throwing around the word “hack” now aren’t we?
Although I tend to give this site a bit of le-way due to the fun nature of a lot of the articles this is definately the worst use of the word.

    Hey Guys,

I appreciate the feedback. It would be nice to please everyone but unfortunately that is not always possible. If there are cool projects (hacks) that you would like to see featured here please let me know about them. :)

There will always be some stretch of the term “hack”, I think it does fit well with this project though since the first picture shows a modified (hacked to look like a pumpkin) LEGO person head!

  5. Macaca Says:

Im not sure, but i dont really mind the no-hacks.. most are interesting enough to use in a real hack, or are nice enough a diversion anyways. I thought most hack makers are somewhat technologi and creativiti orientated to appriciate this kinda stuff.

  6. Trevor Says:
