Halloween Blinking Eyes

at 6:05 am. Filed under Electronic Hacks

There are easier ways to flash LEDs but this project is sure creative!

“The premise is easy all you want to do is rotate a coffee (or whatever type can on axis of its length like a drum rolling down a hill) with a small motor spinning it. You need one contact point that will be consistent to supply power to the drum, and etched areas through the paint to contact brushes to complete the circuit this circuit illuminates the LED’s. Be sure to use a DC power source for this part, god forbid you become a ghost while making this.”

Is there a reason why this was made so complicated? It definitly gets the job done but it is so trivial to blink some lights with the most basic of electronic circuits.

    Hi Steve,

The way it was done is what intrigued me with this project. It reminds me of a Rube Goldberg machine.

  3. Macka Says:

Thats a pretty interesting way of doing it.

  4. GoryCorey Says:

    Why was it so complicated?
Because I was completely electronics illiterate then.

Plus I was out of work, had all these pieces laying about, and had time to kill.

Not to mention this was made in ‘99
The rube goldberg comment to me is a compliment, I was trained as a silversmith, self taught as a CAD designer, sysAdmin and programmer.
I just went with caveman technologies I knew.
