Wow I thought all of the hard drives used metal platters! Number 6 proves that you have to be careful when trashing some of those drives. I wonder what would happen of that drive was accidentally dropped, the platters would probably shatter into a million pieces! Not exactly what I would call a robust recording media.

This destruction method is stupid =) You should use Darik’s Boot and Nuke (“DBAN”) @ http://dban.sourceforge.net/ and use the most powerful wiping method available. Then do this, hard drive killing. You may not know but even when you break the hard drive plate. There is still a chanse your hard drive data can be recovered by using lasers =)
