GameBoy ATAPI CD Player

at 2:22 am. Filed under Computer Hacks, DIY Hacks, Electronic Hacks, Game Hacks

Jordi Bracke has gone about playing a CD the hard way. Instead of buying a $20 portable player he decided to interface a GameBoy system to play a CD using a computer ATAPI CD-ROM drive.

Here is what you need to build your own:
-A GameBoy to show track information and control the playing.
-A GameBoy cartridge: we will need it to interface the GameBoy to a board.
-An ATAPI drive to play the CD.
-A 12v-5v power supply.

The hardware schematics are quite good:

But there needs to be a bit more instructions in English before I would tackle something like this…

    Great job Jordi!
