Look interesting, but have you take in consideration a server farm composed out of Mac Mini?

  6. Angel Says:

Looks like a fire hazard. Where can I learn to build my own mini farm. I have a 42U rack that’s empty and waiting for me to be productive.

  7. Darklor Says:

@Web Hosting: if this were done with mac minis it would cost at least 10-15 times as much. you can build a cheap server with no case for like $175-200 USD and a mac mini is no less than $1000 USD and are as much or less powerful than a built computer. and besides, just use frakin’ linux such as CentOS 5 and rock a free OS instead of buying into corporate the fruit machine.

looks cool and would be really easy to repair parts when needed but i wouldn’t trust it much

I’ve made use of that 42U rack! Three rackmount servers and ancillary devices. I really don’t know why I did it as one virtualized server could probably do it all.
